Trend in Aggregate Delayed Transfers of Care for an STP by Reason for Delay
The chart below shows the trend in the number of Delayed Transfers of Care (DTOCs) in aggregate across all NHS Providers within a chosen STP. The total number of DTOCs is shown as a stacked bar chart with the different elements of the stack analysing the total by reason for the delay.
The filtering options allow the user to select any STP, then choose the types of provider(s) within the STP (acute, mental health etc.) to include. In addition, the user can set a filter to look at all DTOCs, those DTOCs that are NHS Responsibility, Social Care responsibility or joint responsibility broadening the scope of the insights available.
For ease of understanding there is an option to display DTOCs in terms of the equivalent number of beds or by total bed days.
The list of metrics, along with full instructions and explanations of each of the tailoring options shown to the right of the chart are given below. You can also interact with the chart by hovering over any data point to see the Tooltip, this can provide specific information on each data point.
The source data for this chart is NHS England’s Delayed Transfers of Care dataset. This is a publicly available datasets published monthly.
